A proposed order dated April 14, 2026, would stay the case through August 19, 2026, in the litigation brought by the United States and California's Regional Water Quality Control Board for the San Francisco Bay Region against the City and County of San Francisco. Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín is presiding over Case No. 3:24-cv-02594-AMO.

The proposed order would defer all case management conferences and stay deadlines under Rules 12, 16, and 26 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. The parties would be required to submit a joint status report by August 14, 2026, updating the court on their settlement efforts.

If any party withdraws from mediation before August 19, 2026, they would need to notify the court within ten days and request a case management conference. San Francisco would be required to answer or otherwise respond to the complaint within 21 days of any withdrawal from mediation or by September 9, 2026, whichever comes first.

Under the proposed order, the court's June 3, 2024 confidentiality order would continue to govern all mediation and settlement discussions. A further status report would be due within 30 days.
