CHICAGO (LN) — Magistrate Judge Gabriel A. Fuentes granted a motion to compel the production of the code in the consolidated case of Van Housen et al v. Amazon.Com, Inc. et al. The order, filed March 11, 2026, requires the production to be completed by March 31, 2026.

The court directed the parties to handle the materials under the strict terms of the existing protective order to prevent unauthorized disclosure. This ruling occurred after fact discovery closed on March 3, 2026, though the parties had previously proposed extending the deadline to May 1, 2026.

Judge Fuentes ordered the parties to file a joint status report by noon on March 19, 2026. The report must address whether the parties intend to proceed with the revised discovery schedule outlined in their February 24 status report, which set expert discovery to conclude on August 21, 2026.

The underlying litigation, Van Housen et al v. Amazon.Com, Inc. et al, was consolidated for discovery purposes. The plaintiffs sought the source code to support their claims. The case remains pending before Judge LaShonda A. Hunt in the Eastern Division of the Northern District of Illinois.
