MANHATTAN (LN) — U.S. Magistrate Judge Ona T. Wang issued the order on Tuesday, directing OpenAI to file the disputed document along with a three-page letter brief supporting its motion for a protective order. The submission is due by Friday, May 15, 2026.

The order addresses OpenAI’s efforts to claw back and redact the document. Rather than allowing the company to unilaterally withdraw the material, the court requires the document to be made available for private judicial inspection. Opposition to OpenAI’s motion for a protective order is due by Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Judge Wang noted that if the parties resolve the dispute independently, they must file a joint status letter by May 15, 2026, informing the court of the resolution.

The order applies to all actions within the multidistrict litigation captioned In re: OpenAI, Inc., Copyright Infringement Litigation, consolidated under docket number 25-MD-3143.
